The V.U.C.A. Prime Model
/The V.U.C.A. Prime is a model that can be used to help us consider what action or focus we should take, matched against the respective V.U.C.A. elements - volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
By focusing on each element of the V.U.C.A. acronym in isolation and by better understanding its inherent nature, we can begin to distil a suitable strategy or approach to managing it.
This short video briefly explains the concept and terms of the V.U.C.A. Prime model highlighting their role in supporting leaders through V.U.C.A. challenges.
It's important to realise that not all individual elements of a V.U.C.A. challenge or environment are the same in their inherent nature or style. Because of this difference the approach or strategy we adopt (to effectively managing each condition - or combination) will also be different.
Volatility – The key word when dealing with volatility is Vision.
Uncertainty – The key word when dealing with uncertainty is Understanding.
Complexity – The key word when dealing with complexity is Clarity.
Ambiguity – The key word when dealing with ambiguity is Assumptions.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Are you able to effectively diagnose the challenges that you are currently faced with in your job role? What is the inherent nature of the projects, tasks or key deliverables that you are currently working on? Do you have effective strategies to manage this?
