The Leadership Anchor
/The process of developing leadership potential, can at times feel overwhelming. With such a wide variety of frameworks, concepts and ideologies all centred on how to elevate leadership capability, it is useful to have an integrated model that can allow us to easily consolidate this learning and development.
The goal of the leadership anchor is to provide such a model. A model that allows individuals to understand intuitively, the system of experience that they encounter day-to-day and how this impacts their leadership potential. By understanding this systematic model of experience we are empowered to focus our efforts, when developing leadership potential.
A short overview of this model is outlined in the following video.
THE 4 STAGES OF THE LEADERSHIP ANCHOR
Moments & Experiences – Each and every day we encounter moments and experiences. Many of these experiences are driven by proactive intentions and in other times we are faced with situations we wish, we didn’t have to deal with. Regardless of their proactive or reactive nature, these moments and experiences will continue as long as we are either alive or awake.
Thoughts & Emotions – Through the dynamic and plural nature of our biology and neurology every time we experience a moment we have emotions, feelings, cognitions and thoughts. Through the development of leadership potential we are striving to evolve our ability to understand and make sense of the various emotions and cognitions that we have. In many respects the evolution of our ability to understand, think and decide is a key component to leadership growth.
Actions & Behaviours – Great thinking is worth nothing if it doesn’t translate into the right actions and behaviours. It’s important to remember that other people don’t experience us through our thoughts, they experience us through the actions and behaviours we deliver. As with decisions our actions can also be active or passive in nature.
Outcomes & Results – All roads lead somewhere, and in the model of the leadership anchor we are guided to a reality were our actions and behaviours, ultimately manifest as the outcomes and results that we achieve. As with all systems thinking, this then brings us back into the moments and experiences that we encounter.
